MIAMI -- With his wife about to give birth, Tom Koehler hurried through the Philadelphia Phillies lineup. Koehler retired 15 in a row during one stretch and pitched six innings Wednesday, helping the Miami Marlins beat the fading Phils 5-0. "He was warming up and pitching like she was going to give birth any second," said Marlins catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who hit a two-run homer in the ninth. Koehler (6-6) left the ballpark immediately after the game. The Marlins placed him on paternity leave and said his wife, Ashley, was expected to deliver their first child -- a daughter -- by Thursday morning. "Big news," manager Mike Redmond said. "Were excited about that, and glad he got a big win on a big day for him and his wife." Casey McGehee reached base three times, doubled home a run and scored another to help hand the Phillies their sixth consecutive loss. The Marlins, who lead the majors in home victories, clinched the three-game series and improved to 27-21 at Marlins Park. Cole Hamels (2-5) gave up three runs and needed 97 pitches to get through five innings, ending his career-best 10-game streak of pitching at least seven innings. "I wasnt getting ahead of guys," Hamels said. "Then, when I had to throw a strike, I left it up in the zone in a place where they were able to make solid contact." Hamels, a victim of poor run support all season, remained winless since June 6. The Phillies were shut out for the 11th time, which is tied for second-most in the majors. "Its hard to believe," manager Ryne Sandberg said. "Maybe its a pressing situation. We need somebody to get it going -- everybody to feed off of somebody coming through." The Phils matched their longest losing streak of the year and fell 12 games below .500 for the first time. Philadelphia reliever Mario Hollands took a sharp grounder off the left knee for a single in the ninth, gave up Saltalamacchias homer and a double and then left the game accompanied by a trainer. Afterward, he said he was fine. The homer snapped Hollands streak of 18 consecutive scoreless innings. Koehler allowed three hits and earned his first victory since June 4. Three relievers completed a five-hitter. Ben Revere and Jimmy Rollins started the game with singles, but Koehler didnt allow another baserunner until the sixth. The Phillies first two batters also reached in that inning, but again they failed to score. They went 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position. The Marlins took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a bases-loaded single by Donovan Solano. They added two runs in the fifth on RBI doubles by Ed Lucas and McGehee. McGehee increased his hits total to 100, hiked his average to .312 and reached base for the 26th game in a row. He has revived his career after spending 2013 in Japan, but he said hes not about to rest on his accomplishments since joining the Marlins. "Its half a season," he said. "Ive seen how quick things can change. Ive got to keep going every day. If you start patting yourself on the back, this game has a nasty way of reminding you youre not bigger than the game. Itll hunt you down." NOTES: Marlins LHP Brad Hand (0-1, 6.38) will come off the disabled list to start Thursday against Phillies RHP Kyle Kendrick (3-8, 4.22). ... Philadelphia OF Domonic Brown went on the paternity list, and hes expected to rejoin the team this weekend in Pittsburgh. OF Aaron Altherr was recalled from Double-A Reading. ... Two days earlier MacTavish traded lightweight forward Sam Gagner to Tampa Bay for 6-3, 203-pound right winger Ted Purcell. Milan Lucic Jersey . With nothing tangible at stake, the Raptors turned in their most impressive outing of the fall in their seventh and second to last exhibition tilt against their stiffest competition yet, but they lost a couple starters in the process. The American secured his first back-to-back ATP match wins since June to leave Tsonga relying on his performance at next weeks Paris Masters to clinch one of the final three places for the season-ending event in London. Tsonga would have moved up one spot to No. 6 with a win over Querrey at the City of Arts and Sciences, but his serve deserted him in the second set as the 116th-ranked American broke twice to reach the quarter-finals.BOSTON -- Strong outings are becoming a habit for Yovani Gallardo and the rest of Milwaukees rotation. In the Brewers six games this season, no starter has allowed more than three runs. "We see the guy in front of us do a great job and we want to do even better," Gallardo said after the Brewers beat the Red Sox 4-0 on Sunday, his second straight scoreless start. Milwaukee swept the three-game series against the Red Sox, who were swept just once last year when they won the World Series. That was at Texas from May 3-5. Sweeping the Red Sox in front of their passionate fans at Fenway Park is even tougher. "Any time you come in here and win a series, whether its three games or just two games, its a great series," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. The Red Sox, who never had a losing record last year, fell to 2-4 and matched their longest skid of 2013. Gallardo (2-0) pitched six innings in Milwaukees 2-0 win over the Atlanta Braves in the season opener. He and starters Kyle Lohse, Matt Garza, Marco Estrada and Wily Peralta have a 1.65 ERA, the bullpen has a 1.02 ERA and 12 2-3 consecutive shutout innings, and the team ERA is 1.45 with just 38 hits allowed in 56 innings. "Its been outstanding," Roenicke said. "Hopefully, this is a sign that its going to be a great year on the mound and I think it is going to be." The Red Sox had nine hits but stranded nine runners as they lost their first three home games for the first time since 1984. "When we did get people on, Gallardo was able to get the ground ball," Boston manager John Farrell said. Of the 20 batters Gallardo retired, 11 were on ground balls. Gallardo allowed seven hits, walked none and struck out three in 6 2-3 innings in the interleague game. "We dont get to come here very often," he said. "The fans cheer their team on nonstop and youve got to calm yourself down." Jon Lester (0-2) pitched well for his second straight start but received little support again. In Bostons opener, he allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings, but the Red Sox lost 2-1 at Baltimore. On Sunday, he gave up two earned runs in 7 1-3 innings. "I know our hiitters are up there grinding out at-bats," Lester said, "The efforts there.dddddddddddd Obviously, they dont want to not get any runs on the board." The Brewers got all the runs they needed in the second. Jonathan Lucroy led off with a double and took third on a bunt single by Khris Davis. Mark Reynolds then singled in front of right fielder Daniel Nava, scoring Lucroy. And when the ball got by Nava for an error, Davis scored and Reynolds took second. Then Lester settled down, retiring 15 straight batters before Davis doubled with one out in the seventh. Reynolds walked, Lyle Overbay struck out and Jeff Bianchi singled in Davis, making it 3-0. Davis went 2 for 4 after getting four hits in a 7-6 win in 11 innings Saturday night, when he scored the winning run after his double. The Brewers made it 4-0 in the eighth on an RBI single by Aramis Ramirez off Edward Mujica. The Red Sox threatened in the seventh after Gallardo retired the first two batters. Jackie Bradley Jr. doubled and took third on an infield single by David Ross. Zach Duke replaced Gallardo and ended the threat by retiring Nava on a fly to centre. Tyler Thornburg pitched the last two innings. Farrell challenged a call for the first time this season, but replay showed umpire Tim Timmons was correct in calling Bradley out on a close play on a ground ball in the second. Ryan Braun reached on an infield single with two outs in the first, ending a 0-for-14 slump, but was stranded. He singled again in the eighth, stole second, took third when catcher Ross throw went into centre field and scored when Ramirez singled. NOTES: Of Lesters first eight pitches, six were strikes and two were outs. ... Boston 3B Will Middlebrooks went on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right calf. ... The Red Sox open a three-game series at home Monday night, with John Lackey (1-0) pitching against Tanner Scheppers (0-0) of the Texas Rangers. The Brewers game scheduled in Philadelphia on Monday was postponed because of expected inclement weather. ..
